The Undomestic Goddess

Written by Sophie Kinsella of Shopaholic fame, she introduces a new heroine - Samantha Sweeting- who is a high powered banking lawyer with no time for relaxation, friends or fun. After an apparent huge financial mistake, she is fired from her job and in her confusion, wanders around until she stops at a large house in the country to ask for water and directions. They assume she is there to interview for a housekeeping job and after all of the confusion, lies and utter unlikelihood, takes the job. Bumbling attempts at cooking, cleaning ensue and comedy is created. Along with a romance with the gardener and then the unavoidable conflict when her past catches up with her present. I thoroughly enjoyed this light hearted, entertaining book. It was the perfect rebound book. Funny, unlikely and quick, read this when you want to escape.
